Interested in joining us?
Hopefully the short introduction on About Us will have given some insight into what the Group, and being a member of the C.S.G. is all about.
Membership of the C.S.G. is open to anyone with an interest in targeting large chub. Although there are no qualifying weights to be accepted, you will need to be an experienced chub angler with a willingness to contribute in some way; i.e. by writing articles/letters for our own magazine, attending Group get together weekends and reporting catches of chub, sub 4lb * and over, to the Group Records Officer on a regular basis and at least yearly.
Membership has never been restricted to any specific number but at its 2012 A.G.M. members voted to introduced a waiting list. Although membership levels have always been self maintained in the 60's for a number of years, popularity of the Group has never been higher and is now at a level that to go any higher the Group would lose its its unique openness and closeness between members, and the friendships that have built up over the years could be weakened.
Current membership fees are £30-00 with a £10-00 joining fee for new members and those rejoining after a lapse in membership.
Upon acceptance to the Group new members will receive a copy of the Group Constitution together with back issues ( subject to availability) of the current years magazine ‘Chevin', access to the member only forum, Chub Chat, a copy of the Group Membership list and information of any Group get-together's being held
Many back issues of the Group magazine ‘ Chevin' are available to Group members in hard copy and in C.D. Format, as is the Group History.
The Group membership year runs from 1st January - 31st December and all members are requested to submit regular catch returns to the Records Officer.
Members are asked to submit information of all chub taken of 4lb and over.
To qualify for Group awards all outstanding catch returns must be submitted to the Group Records Officer as soon as possible after the year end.
